My new year’s resolution is to do better…AGAIN. Do better for me. Take better care of myself physically, mentally and spiritually. Do more of the things that fear stops me from doing. Take all of the ideas I have in my head and actually work on them in real life. I’ll start here with my blog. I started with a bang and then fizzled. Why? I don’t know. But I’m back! I’ll start of with a quick recap of 2023.

FEBRUARY 2023

First and foremost, on February 28th, I retired. No more 9 to 5 for me, thanks to God and my husband for making this possible. Don’t get me wrong, this in no way means that I stay home and do nothing while the kids are at school. It’s just easier to get things done at my own pace. Now I’m able to be more present at home and at my kids’ schools and activities. I can now go grocery shopping during the day and not pay someone else to do it, have breakfast and lunch dates with my husband, or do brunch with friends.

MARCH 2023

March 1st, I loc’d my hair. This is something I’ve wanted to do for years, but I would get tired of any hairstyle so fast that I always decided against it. I guess after retiring, it was time for another change. I don’t regret it one bit.

APRIL 2023

We took the kids to Cancun for spring break. They had a blast and now it’s their favorite place. I’ll do a separate post about that for those of you who need hotel recommendations.

MAY 2023

My middle son turned 9. He wanted a party at one of his favorite indoor karting and gaming places, so we invited his best friends and had so much fun. That same night after the party, my husband and I got on a flight to Curacao. Technically, I went to work with my husband. He was the DJ for a 50th birthday trip and I was fortunate enough to be invited. I’ll save the details of this trip for another post as well, but I had an amazing time.

JUNE AND JULY 2023

Starting at the end of June, we took a trip to NY for two weeks. We got to spend time with family and friends, had a photoshoot and celebrated my daughter’s 5th birthday. She’s a huge Michael Jackson fan, so one of her gifts were front row tickets to MJ on Broadway. Definitely a must see! The rest of July was spent doing things locally while getting ready for back to school. Oh, we also got a turtle. The turtle was actually a birthday gift for my middle son that has somehow become my responsibility.

AUGUST 2023

August was spent with my kids getting settled back into the school routine. I’d rather keep them home but I’m not responsible enough for home schooling, lol.

SEPTEMBER AND OCTOBER 2023

These months filled with cub scout outings, birthday parties and projects. These months also drained me. October 28th was my birthday and two of my best friends surprised me with a spa weekend trip. Details for this will come at a later date as well. What I will say is that it was exactly what I needed to get out of the funk I was in.

NOVEMBER 2023

My plan for every Thanksgiving is to hop on a plane and take the kids somewhere. This year we went to LA. We took them to Universal Studios and got to visit Super Nintendo World.  For Thanksgiving dinner, we had reservations at Capital Grille. Everything was perfect.

DECEMBER 2023

My best friend turned 40. We celebrated in Turks and Caicos. What I will say is WE HAD A TIME!!! To be continued…

Christmas came along and I didn’t buy any gifts for my kids until December 22nd. I got it all done in about 3.5 hours and wrapped everything on Christmas Eve. I think I’ll start my shopping earlier next year, but I got it all done and my kids were so happy. The year went so fast and so slow at the same time.   I’m excited to see what good things come in 2024.
