Let me start off by saying HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to all of the mothers and mother figures out there!
Writing this post was a big struggle. Deciding to post it was, and still is, a bigger struggle. All because I hate to share certain parts of my life. But, this year has been all about change and growth for me, so here it goes…
As a motherless child, I used to hate celebrating holidays. I’d be secretly miserable whenever holidays came around. Mother’s day always hit the hardest. You would think that because I was so young when my mother passed, (almost 3), it would be easier as I got older, but that was far from the case. It actually got worse once I realized what I was missing out on.
I’ll skip a whole lot since I refuse to share too much, but, since becoming a mother, I’ve gotten better at trying to enjoy celebrations with my family, otherwise, it would just be unfair to my kids and my husband. I’m a great mom and I deserve to be celebrated, so, I’ll let them celebrate me and I’ll continue to work on not being miserable because of what I don’t have and be happy and thankful for what I do have.
